Do you know what your happy weight is?

Many people who I speak with come to me with an initial goal of losing weight, and many have a goal to get back to a weight they were when they were much younger, or before kids, or a picture in their mind that they’ve always had.. And while that goal is certainly attainable, it may not always be practical. Your ideal weight may not be your happy weight.

What do I mean by happy weight? This is a weight that you can achieve, and most importantly maintain, while living a balanced and healthy life. It includes feeling good in your skin, supporting your lifestyle, feeding your body with healthy macro and micro nutrients; while also enjoying social engagements, birthday parties, and just real life. And you may learn that this happy weight that you settle into is not the ideal weight that you have in your mind (which is usually some random scale number that we feel some crazy need to achieve).

As we age, our metabolism slows down.. And while we can do things to help boost it (NEAT, resistance training, etc), it is not a one for one match. As we age, calories in will absolutely need to be decreased in order to maintain the same weight. There is a cost to getting thin or very lean and it often comes with deprivation, anxiety around food and social situations, extreme caloric restriction, and disordered eating. This is where accepting a happy weight comes into play.

Finding the balance of caloric intake and the quality of foods to maintain a weight range that is healthy and that you can maintain while feeling good about yourself from the inside out is not an easy task.

With all my clients, I promote a very balanced approach to weight loss and maintenance. I encourage a slow and steady weight loss without extreme calorie restrictions while learning and understanding how to fuel their body with proper foods, while still living guilt free when they choose to indulge. I teach my clients to nourish their body rather than to deprive it.

If this sounds like something you have been looking for, then please reach out to me. I would love to help you reach your goals and find your happy weight.
